Another view from the base of the island
[February 1] Another base view, this time with all the rocks textured. This isn't the final texture--I've been trying to get a good rock texture from either Genetica or the Gimp. The big serious issue is that all of the textures tile badly when seen from the lighthouse; this is one of the textures that tiles the least--it's also kinda boring. Also, I'll need to do some more work on the rock mesh, now that most of the modeling work is done.
The side view
[February 1] There's not much new here, except for the rock being textured. Just to the right of the lighthouse tower you can see the first of the railing supports; what you don't see are the invisible collision wallsaround the tower's base--it's a bit tight up there and easy to fall off.
The outbuildings
[February 1] This view shows another part of the rocks; I almost like the untextured rocks better than with this texture, but it's really only temporary.
The interior stairs
[February 1] The stair risers now have their textures, though it's a bit too small to see here. The physics ramps have a new material so they render invisible; it's also got a high friction value so the camera entity doesn't slide backwards down the ramp. One serious problem is that if the mesh has additional materials the friction is ignored; fortunately, materials are only needed for rendering.
